At the TED University Center for Gender Studies, we conduct comprehensive work on making care work visible, emphasizing its social importance, and promoting the equitable distribution of these responsibilities across genders. The first phase of this work consisted of our research conducted with our university staff, focusing specifically on the concept of "mental load." We shared our findings within the scope of the "Equal Care Day" (February 29), designated as the "extra day/invisible day" by the Germany-based Equal Care Day Initiative (klischeesc e.V.). We are pleased to announce that we will hold our fifth annual Equal Care Day event, now a tradition at our center, with the participation of our university staff on Friday, March 6.
Our program, titled "The Burden of Care, The Power of Sharing: Towards Equal Care Work from Theory to Practice," will commence with a presentation by our faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülçin Con Wright and Asst. Prof. Dr. Senem Yıldırım Özdem, in their research titled "Thinking About the Challenges of Maintaining Work-Life Balance Through the Lens of Childcare Responsibilities" ["İş-Yaşam Dengesi Korumanın Zorluklarını Çocuk Bakım Sorumluluğu Üzerinden Düşünmek"].
We would be delighted to have you join us at our Equal Care Day event.
